Da uno come lui c’è da spettarsi di tutto, e gli organizzatori degli Oscar lo sanno fin troppo bene. Proprio perché non sanno cosa ha in mente in occasione della cerimonia prevista domenica notte, l’Academy ha deciso di proibire all’irriverente attore di prendere parte alla serata. A causare una decisione così drastica,  l’annuncio da parte di Baron Cohen che quest’anno avrebbe sfilato sul red carpet vestito come il protagonista del suo ultimo film, The Dictator.

Così l’associazione avrebbe ritirato i biglietti per il noto comico politically uncorrect che fa parte del cast di Hugo Cabret di Martin Scorsese. Dall’Academy, intanto, è arrivata una semi smentita: “Non gli abbiamo proibito niente, vogliamo solo sapere cosa farà. Non sarebbe gradita la promozione del suo ultimo film sul red carpet”. Domenica sapremo come sarà andata a finire questa storia.

Undici candidature per Martin Scorsese e il suo Hugo Cabret, vero mattatore della prossima edizione degli Oscar. Rivelate oggi le nomination, che vedono contendersi la statuetta con War Horse di Spielberg, L’arte di vincere con Brad Pitt (entrambi a sei nomination), George Clooney e il suo Descendants, Woody Allen e il finalmente considerato dalla Academy Midnight In Paris e molto, molto altro. Dante Ferretti e Francesca Lo Schiavo tengono alta la bandiera italiana a Hollywood, nominati per la scenografia di Hugo Cabret. Appuntamento al 26 febbraio per scoprire chi vincerà.

La notizia dell’esclusione di Terraferma di Emanuele Crialese rappresenta l’ennesima sconfitta del nostro cinema, che a forza di commedie e commediole, dimostra ancora una volta di essere poco esportabile su altri mercati. Basti pensare che l’ultima candidatura italiana risale al lontano 2006, quando La bestia nel cuore di Cristina Comencini riuscì ad essere nominato. Per non parlare dell’ultimo film italiano che è riuscito ad aggiudicarsi l’ambita statuetta: qui dobbiamo tornare indietro di tredici anni, quando nel 1999 se la portò a casa Benigni per La vita è bella.
